Earth poems

Earth 1

Everything you are

Is from somewhere else.

Unlikely life

Woven of the cosmos

Textures of the extra-terrestrial

Touch down on terra firma

Fertile soil for

God knows what.

Earth 2

My toes caught

in the mycelial web

Knitting me in

to beets digging down

broccoli rising up

We are all

Made of earth

Connecting and cultivating

Dancing in step

With this ecstatic skin

Of home

Earth 3

Mud squishes between my toes

drawing me to lie down

In the softness

To melt

Into the one embrace

Earth 4

Rocks boulders pebbles

Crystals metals sand

Molten churning

Spewing quaking shaking

Where is

The middle ground?

Earth 5

The web

Life sprouting up

Then folding back

So many cycles

Rising falling

Flowering fruiting

Cycling and circulating

Tufts and drapes

Trunks and crowns

Ants and lizards

Life dances on

Sewing her dress in every color

Changing into her seasonal favorite

Interconnection her

key to fashion

Earth 6

Deep in the heart

of earth

Gratitude

The prayer that binds

my flesh to your clay

Earth Words

Earth,

Are the tears

Of hate

The heat

That tears

the heart open?
