Moon Poems

Waning Wolf Moon

Make new mistakes

Crosspollinate

Let the moon illuminate

The darkness within

She holds the secrets near

Patient til the skies clear…

We felt your glorious howling wolf presence

Calling the clans together

The lost souls

The dark parts that flush with anger and frustration

The not seen parts

You bathe them in brilliance

Let them glow in the spotlight

howling their piece of

 the truth

You made a safe place for

Every piece

To come forward

All of our conflicting wounds

laid out on the mountaintop before you

You shouldered the burden of our deepest grief

Unravel the layers

Night by night

In your infinite arms of compassion

Carry it all back

Into the fertile womb of darkness

Slowly interlace

In the mirror of opposites

Until all that is left

Is the empty night

 Reminding us

That we too have the capacity to hold

This infinite darkness

In our arms

A handful of moon

Honoring the Empty Moon

The last part of the exhalation

The last gasping of tears

The final letting go

Scraping out the last bits

Squeezing out every last morsel
Before the new rushes in

Howling wind whisks

The last of the old leaves

The bits that thought to hang on

Rallied and railed in resistance

Resign now to release

Terse and tired

This fallow phase of emptying

This slack tide of my spirit

Begs for nothing

No new ideas

No new impulses

No seeds to sew

Less is more now

Lie fallow

Let boredom be its own compost

Aimless

The bow  has not yet drawn back

Not even a pondering of prey

In my life of doing

Honoring the empty is an exercise I fail at regularly

Reigniting  my imagination

with false stimulants of internet and chocolate

Pushing for more

And now I push for more… emptiness?

No!

I will sit with a tree

 let my sap flow down

Simply surrender to gravity

As it overtakes this moment

And wraps it in the quiet heartbeat

Of the resting earth

As we are held in the dark arms

Of the final waning

Of Moon

Waxing moon

White wizardess on horseback

croons incantations

to the vast enchantments

of the heavens

She knows herself in reflection

Wearing perfume of evening light

she kisses the sun goodnight from across the sky

then settles into the cleft of mountaintops

for an elusive moment

What words of wisdom

can you weave me into,

Wondrous One?

Her long cape of darkness blows back

revealing the opalescent glow

of her sparkling face

I carry all of light and all of darkness

I don’t hold back

Wherever I am, I am FULLY

Even when I’m in between

I am more complex in my simplicity

than you can ever imagine

I sway tides and pull heartstrings

tug on lunatic minds

with my glamourous tendrils

Once I have enchanted you

there is no turning back

Your heart will attune

to the vast playground of the heavens

and you will frequent the frequency

of Cosmic Knowers

I am the gateway

step through the portal

of my pearly white veil

To the sun and beyond

Open your mask

Let your parts party!

Feel into your subconscious

and call back all the bits

into a big round luminous

WHOLENESS

And with that,

she ducked behind a cloud

And slowly slipped away

Returning to the unfathomable face

of darkness
